When I first started my research on this project, I looked up the word "Mpenzi" and the definition that I found was a "sisterly love or bond between sisters". Having that in my head, I did some research on African and Tanzanian mask and art work. I came upon a interesting style of art and tried to put the two things together - the definition and the style of art. The logo is two women not only embraced but joined at the hip in a display of support and love for one another. It is made up of two different materials that they both share - what is in one influences the other, like the Yin and Yang. There is no stronger bond in the universe than the relationship between sisters. One does not stand in front of the other because they share the spot light – an act of support which is important to any relationship be it sister, brother, or any other type of love.

The Mpenzi logo looks more like a piece of art than a logo and I think that is important. I believe it should be a statement because it represents art in itself. In this case, film!
